Our Aim
Particle physics provides a never ending challenge for humankind when delving into the mystery of the natural world, such as the structure of physical matter and birth of the universe. Due to the results from the synergy of theory and accelerator experiments, there have been dramatic improvements in this field of research.
Presently, Tohoku University is playing the central role as a core research institute in the plan to build a large linear accelerator (International Linear Collider: ILC) in Iwate. The Kitakami Mountain range is the main candidate site for this project.
This conference, consisting of industry, academic, and government representatives, has been established to promote basic scientific research and to deepen the understanding of the International Linear Collider, as well as to research and maintain the environment during ILC installation.
Basic Policies
Promoting Basic Science
Promoting basic scientific research is the foundation in the discovery of truth and the breakthroughs that will lead us to better understand the phenomenon of nature. It will also create a ripple effect that will benefit society, industrial technology through innovative engineering, and most importantly provide our youth with dreams for the future.
Promoting the Understandings of International Linear Collider (ILC)
As well as promoting a better understanding of the purpose of the International Linear Collider and its research content, an investigation is required pertaining the ramifications of installing the ILC in Tohoku.
Activities
Lecture Presentation
Seminars and lecture presentations about basic science and the International Linear Collider.
Investigation Research
Investigate the promotion of basic science in the Tohoku area and the living environment of foreign researchers.
